“For Rancho Sahuarita, I designed every single piece of furniture, every carving. The owners wanted the hand-carved look of Mexican artisans but a much harder wood. We bought the wood in the Northwest and had it shipped to Mexico. Everything was carved in Mexico, then brought here to be stained and upholstered. These furnishings had to be well crafted and able to withstand intense use by the public. Five years later they still look great.” – Liz Ryan
