Outdoor Living Spaces
"Designing outdoor living space is one of the things I absolutely love because it's the way I live and because it increases the size of the house so much. The wrap-around porches did not increase the size of the house at all - but it feels HUGE. There are French doors where there were windows. We're actually doing a sleeping porch off of the bedroom that's going to have drapes on two sides. Today I'm actually creating outdoor rooms." Liz Ryan

A colorful and inviting outdoor area for entertaining that could focus around the homeowners family and friends was achieved through using a vivid palette combined with the strong textures of teak, wicker, and iron. The furniture plan was designed to accomodate different gatherings and outdoor heaters were used to assure the client of year-round comfort. This design won Liz first place in the ASID Design Excellence Awards Arizona South Chapter 2001, Single Space Category.
